Condition Monitoring System (CMS) for critical rotating equipment in Petrotel-Lukoil, Romania

In Petrotel-Lukoil - Ploiesti, Romania, Bright Engineering Ltd. completed the contract for design, delivery and installation of a Condition Monitoring System of rotating equipment.

The system covers around 150 critical pumping units driven by electric motors and small steam turbines. Vibrations and temperatures of the bearings are measured. Most of the pumps use rolling element bearings and the CMS measures bearing case vibrations. Some of the pumps are with journal bearings and therefore an approach for measuring the radial vibrations of the shaft was applyed.

The hardware level of the system is based on the most capable and flexible online machine monitoring and protection system of Bently Nevada – 3500 System. In the configuration are included also “Relay output” modules which enable to protect the equipment from exceeded levels of vibrations and bearing temperatures.

The diagnostic Level of the System is based on machine condition monitoring software platform – System 1®. The platform is installed on four servers. Three of them carry out the data acquisition of dynamic data from monitoring racks of the 3500 System, and the fourth is the main server, in which are located the overall database and the application software packages. The software includes also five Diagnostic display clients, by which monitoring and analyzes of the data and diagnostic of the condition of the equipment is performed.
